I think it’s interesting to see what a body fad becomes these days.  When I was in high school, I know you are thinking “the stone age”, the big deal was guys getting their ears pierced.  Today that is as common as coloring your hair or painting your nails.  Then came the resurgence of tattoos.  I fell into that fad and I have to be honest I don’t regret getting some ink on my body, but once you get it you take it for granted.  It just becomes part of your body like a birthmark or mole. It’s just there.

Then came  along the body piercing.  I will admit that I had multiple ear rings at one time, but due to my profession those are a thing of the past thanks to conservative America.  No big deal, take the earrings out the holes close up and you are left with a tiny pseudo hole of times gone by.  

The thing I see more often is this ‘gauging‘ of piercings.  This to me is a little bit odd.  Stretching the holes in your earlobes, nose, etc. reminds me of the African culture of lip discs.  You know the people who place plates in their lip holes giving them the impression of a HUGE bottom lip.  I guess this could be beneficial in a way if you did not have any paper plates or own dinnerware.  When these people take the plates out, they are left with a bottom lip that is not attached and really stretched out. Kind of nasty in my opinion. But I digress. 

Anyhow so you now have these young kids gauging earlobes and other body parts.  How do you explain that to your grandchildren when you get old and the fad is long dead?  Do you pay the large sum of money to get plastic surgery to fix it?  (Possibly the plastic surgeons are subliminally putting those fads out there in order to drum up future business) Or do you just convert it to another use.  When I worked in the hospital and would have to draw blood, I met some people who had multiple bled out bluish tattoos on their forearms and would say, ‘ my veins are hard to find but if you stick the needle right in Betty Boops left eye you will hit one’.  I consider that repurposing.  The old man tattoo met another need.  So will the younger generation repurpose their cool gauges of today when they are 60 or 70 years old??  Possibly sliding in their bottle of blood pressure medicine in their earlobe so it’s not forgotten, or use it to hold ball point pens, hook car keys to them, hold their sunglasses, the possibilities are endless if you put your mind to it.

I would like to see gauges on cheeks, then put little plexi-glass windows in them so you can see them eat that would be cool.

It’s a zippered area that will keep the dust and moisture out.  I’m wondering if they sell these to a lot of bedwetters.  Also if it keeps the moisture out would it not keep the moisture in???  Meaning the smelly shoes will start growing all kinds of nasty things in the darkness under your bed.  Granted this would be a good thing if you were a Chef and needed to cut down on the expense of buying Shitake mushrooms!

This post is strictly a one sided argument.  One thing I’ve had enough of is CELEBRITY CRAP!  I can’t stand the TV shows such as Extra or ET.  I can’t stand the paper like The Star or National Enquirer. And I especially can’t stand the blogs like Perez Hilton.  The people who absorb this kind of paltry bullshit need to get a real life!  I personally have enough on my plate: family, kids, friends, bills, jobs, housework and a million other things, that I don’t have the time to even watch or read the news more or less care that someone is in rehab or the fashion faux pas they made on the red carpet at the millionth and one award show. 

These are people we are talking about are not Gods.  Yes they go jogging in parks, eat at restaurants, and shop with their kids in strollers.  I personally do not give a shit and don’t want to see it.  Yet, millions of people buy, read or watch this crap.  I don’t get the fascination about them.  Maybe I’m just to wrapped up in my own little world and can’t see the bigger picture.

Last week our neighbor informed us that an older Chinese man and a little boy were using our swing set.  And if that is not rude enough, the little boy must have had to use the restroom and proceeded to pee in our flower beds.  Apparently the older gentleman felt the urge as well and was about to make water when my neighbor went out to tell them this is a private swing set and to go home or she is going to call the cops. 

I was in a state of shock and awe when she told me this.  The NERVE to use somebody else’s playground equipment and on top of that, peeing in their yard.  What in the HELL is going through these people’s minds.  I guess I had better be head to Lowes so I can start building my GREAT WALL.

Since the President Bush shoe thrower is out of prison the news has been playing the incident over and over. When looking at the footage, (sorry for the pun) in depth, I’ve come to a revelation.

First of all the guy is lucky to have gotten off throwing a single shoe, since he had to take the time to take them off.  Secondly if you are lucky enough to be able to take a second shot and you know he ducked to the left with the first one, you should be able to compensate and make the second throw really count!!!  Make the punishment fit the crime. Footage of Bush getting hit square in the face would have ranked up there with his father puking on the Japanese Prime Minister during his visit to Japan.

Driving to work one morning I crossed over a small concrete bridge that had aluminum guardrails attached to the side. Two days later I drove over this same bridge and now the guardrails have been cut off and removed on just one side. Now I can understand at .75 cents/lb people saving up their aluminum cans and taking them to the recycler for cash instead of just putting them out to the curb to end up in a landfill. But taking aluminum guard rails and trying to get cash for them. How do you explain that to the buyer! Do you have to actually cut it up and make it look like just chunks of garbage? I know times are rough but good Lord.. think of public safety. Next we are going to see people taking down road signs.. they are aluminum too.

My wife and Youngest both received flyers in the mail for Royal Canine dog food. The only way they would both get them is if the AKC sold them a list of registered owners of pets. (Considering the Youngest is only in kindergarten)

So anyhow. When we saw these flyers we were thinking ‘SCORE’, because we do indeed feed our dog the Royal Canine brand. Upon opening these flyers we soon discovered they were not anything but advertisements stating that if you are not happy with the dog food contact them for a full refund.

What the hell was that?? No coupons or anything? Now I’m no rocket scientist but considering the marketing department had to pay for the AKC list of owners, pay for the printing and then pay to mail the flyers, there was a ZERO return on investment for that marketing campaign. As a matter of fact the company lost money on that deal.

Maybe I should work for their marketing department considering they don’t have to show any kind of profits for their work. I better check out their job board.

How can mattress stores make any money?  It seems like there is one in every strip mall.  How many mattresses do people buy in a lifetime? 

I can honestly say that I’ve bought one at a mattress store. It is nice and comfy but I’m not married to it.  If I had to buy a new one because of a tornado or God forbid my dog expired on it and released its bowels and everything else I would probably not go back to a mattress store.   All the others I’ve purchased for my children have come from Sam’s Club or a discount mega-mart type store.

 Makes you wonder how many mattresses these stores have to sell in order to pay their monthly rent and utilities or even the paychecks of the poor people that work there.  Can you imagine working commission as a sales rep at a mattress store?  It would be better if they would legalize prostitution and hiring the ladies to be sales rep.  Because even if they don’t make the commission of the mattress sale they could at least make money off of the test drive.

What kind of company can afford to do that?  Then when something is finally opened in the building, it’s usually useless like another cell phone company or a mattress store.  I think the cities should look at the overall empty strip malls before they allow new ones to be constructed.  Maybe make a rule like the occupancy rate must be 80% full in the area.  Instead we have strip mall after strip mall with only one or two stories in them. 

What a waste of money and space.  This does not even take into account the area that was destroyed to put up the empty building.  Maybe it would have been better to put in a public park!

I knew there was a reason I didn’t have my gun on me at that time.
